Identify Please

So I have this tree in my back yard

 

which has recently sprouted these little seeds, pods, fruit cases

 which in turn contain this little red berry, fruit, poisionous substance???

Can someone identify this for me please?

I want to know if I can eat it, I did lick this little red thing and it was a tad tart which may mean it is a fruit but not ripe yet....I'm not super keen to eat a whole one just incase it's poisonous
